Life, Earth, People
We will grow our local food, if we give the earth rights . We will treasure our water and land, if we give the earth rights. We will end globalisation and imported exploitation, if we give the earth rights. In Washington, we are incredibly lucky. We live in a land of mountains, sea, bountiful salmon, apples, rain, cold freshwater lakes, and trees. We should value it.
The machine is going up in smoke, we breathe it every summer. Now it's a fact we cannot ignore. Capitalism makes us consume more and more. It powers an economy designed to destroy our own homes. Unmitigated capitalism has brought unmitigated disasters of wildfire, drought, poverty, melting glaciers, and rising seas. The system must change and change now it will. We change the system to give back and tend the Earth when we take from it. We hold the technocratic elite accountable for the destruction consumerism causes. We create a society that prospers now and in the future. We're taking control of the future now.
ANY SYSTEM REQUIRING INFINITE GROWTH WILL BREAK. THIS ONE IS BREAKING NOW.

Water is a gift. Water in Washington runs clean and cold from the Cascades and we have the gift of letting it run through us too. Water is everything. Without it, we die in two days. Water cycles the ingredients of life through the veins of the Earth and feeds life throughout our state. Water matters. It’s time to honor it and give life back to our water.
We have automated much of manual labor. We are rapidly automating knowledge work. Future jobs that embrace technology as a pillar of engineering prosperous society must have robust training and education that nimbly adapts to realities of artificial intelligence and automation. But a prosperous society will have much need for workers to strengthen our infrastructure and energy.
The state is blessed with fertile ground. There are not only trees but diverse, complex ecosystems of forests, talking forests, living and connected through chattering fungi and decomposing matter and animal caretakers and inhabitants that traverse them. The land is blessed with life that sustains itself and it is time to embrace our place within it.
The rules of the economy favor pillaging the gifts the world has given us. We piss plastic and toxic wastes into the cold, clean water that runs down from the mountains. We starve the grounds that feed us and burn the living forests. We spit in the face of the Earth and pretend that we are not spitting on ourselves. But we are foolish. There is no such thing as individuality without the beautiful, complex community that is life.
We may have to give up our habits of consumption. We may have to change the ways we are accustomed to living. We may have to forgo convenience and daily Amazon deliveries. But our kids will have food and water and a beautiful home and opportunity to live. That matters.
Huge companies are increasingly consolidating societal and technological power. A handful of companies from Silicon Valley control our media, our information, our wants and needs, even our access to basic food and sustenance. They play by the exploitative rules we have set up with no incentive to preserve the land, water, or care for our home. No matter how many benefits these companies may have brought, the risk to society, democracy, and our sense of purpose is unacceptable. It’s time to break up the technocracy: we'll bringing the technology back to the hands of the people.
The economy demands ever-increasing economic value to fund new business ventures. If you ask me for money, I expect more money in return or I will not lend you my money.
This infinite growth principle is the foundation of capitalism. It creates a world where we must spend more and more, consume more and more, exploit more and more.
Well it doesn’t work anymore.
